INFORMATION SUPPLIED BY SURE START CHILDREN'S CENTRE

COMING SOON TO FURZTON

The new Sure Start Children's Centre will serve families from Shenley Lodge, Shenley Brook End and Emerson Valley as well as Furzton, although we will be open to all!

The building is situated next to Merebrook Infant School on Dulverton Drive and is due to be completed at the end of March and we are aiming to open at the beginning of May.

Sure Start Children's Centres are at the forefront of the Government's commitment to improve outcomes for children and families to ensure that every child has the opportunity to achieve their full potential. The aim of a Children's Centre is to ensure that all families with children aged 0-5 years will have better access to services and support.

Working in partnership with other agencies and service providers the Children's Centre will offer local access and signposting to a range of services including community health, a childminders' group, parenting support and information and advice on childcare options and employment and training for adults.

We will also be running an exciting program of activities for families and children under 5 including stay and play sessions, a creative play session, music group, healthy eating workshop and baby group. The Children's Centre will also have a sensory room that can be used by individual families or small groups.

What we provide depends on what the local community would like.

This is your Children’s Centre and we welcome input and views from parents/carers about the Children’s Centre services. A parents/carers' forum will be set up and we are looking for volunteers to join it.
